All aboard! The world’s first and largest electric railway museum is looking for new volunteers to join our ranks. Join Seashore Trolley Museum on Saturday, March 15 from 2PM-4PM for a New Volunteer Open House to learn more about the seasonal and year-round volunteer opportunities available this winter and during our 2025 season.
In anticipation of the start of their trolley operations during their 86th season, the museum now seeks new volunteer trolley conductors and operators from the community for the museum’s electric heritage railway.
Learn a unique, new skill and help the world’s largest transit museum provide an awesome experience for guests during their 2025 season and beyond. Seashore Trolley Museum is recruiting new conductors to begin observing trained crew on either Tuesday May 6, 20, and June 3 OR Saturday May 10, 24, and June 7. New volunteers will be paired with an experienced, knowledgeable instructor who will show you the ins and outs of the museum’s history and the museum’s robust transit collection, how to safely board guests on the trolleys, and how the railroad works and is operated. Upon successful completion of the observation period and if interested, new volunteers will then learn to operate the trolleys with a seasoned operator.
To be eligible to conduct and operate the museum’s trolleys, volunteers must become members of the museum, be 18 years or older, and hold a valid motor vehicle operator’s license from your state of residence.
This course fills up fast so be sure to sign up early if you are interested! For more details or to sign up for this or future courses, please fill out the museum’s online volunteer application at https://trolleyme.net/volunteer or call (207) 967-2800 x104 or email volunteer@trolleymuseum.org.
